The Redemption of Alexander Seaton by Shona Maclean

This novel is set in 17th century in Northern Scotland.

It paints a dramatic picture of the prejudices which affected the lives of its characters.

At its heart is a test of faith however it is also a murder mystery with some very unexpected twists as the story develops.

I found it compelling reading.
