From its earliest days, Dunedin Public Library has been one of New Zealand’s most innovative, comprehensive and respected public libraries. Find out about some of the people whose dedication, hard work and expertise helped to make it that way.

  • Mark Cohen (1849-1928), editor of the Evening Star.
  • W B McEwan (1870-1933), our first Librarian.
  • Robert McNab (1864-1917), was the donor of New Zealand material which formed the basis for our McNab Collection.
