The “Top Secret” Summer Reading Programme, targeting primary aged children officially finished on Wednesday 7 February with the start of the new school year. The Summer Reading Programme was conducted at all libraries across the Dunedin Public Libraries network, with a total of 312 children returning their reading logs and a grand total of 5,231 books read.

Special prize giving ceremonies with a guest speaker will be conducted at all locations during the week 2-9 March 2007.

This year’s “Top Secret” theme with the fingerprint stamp and spy mission instructions has been very popular and the Library has received heartening feedback from several parents regarding the programme’s value in encouraging children to read throughout the holidays.

The prizes for the Summer Reading programme will again be generously provided by the University Book Shop, in “top secret”, unmarked wrappers, of course.
