I was confused for a minute by this also. Before your User ID was the last 7 digits of your library card number. Now it is the WHOLE card number.

So, now your user ID includes the 2900100. Your pin number should be the same as it was before.

So, what’s better about the new catalogue? From a quick look, I see no improvement. If there are new features, I can’t find any explanation of what they are (the list of features on the home page doesn’t list anything we couldn’t do before). The interface is certainly no more attractive or intuitive. Many operations (like a simple title search) seem to take more steps. The link back to the library home page or to library databases is not obvious. The catalogue apparently no longer works with the Library Elf reminder service. My personal list is gone (though I did appreciate the e-mail warning that it was going), and I’ll have to reconstruct it.

If the change was born of some behind-the-scenes legal or technical necessity, that’s understandable. But somebody sold this package to the library as an improvement for users, well, I’d ask for my money back.

i read the book for a school english assignment. it was incredibly interesting. ive told my mother to read it too. i have had trouble on the internet in chatrooms before and i quickly realised after reading this book that i too could have been fooled. i probably was but i ended up breaking the computer and was unable to login for a long time. that was what woke me up. at first it was confusing because it kept swapping from Sam to Erica but after a while i got the hang of it.

Total waste of time and money. People will stop using the library because of where it will be. Put the money it is going to cost to do this study into something more worthwhile like city roading, health such like. Peter Chin needs his head read if he thinks the people of Dunedin are like lambs who need to be lead around. WE CAN THINK FOR OURSELVES PETER. DON’T MOVE THE LIBRARY.

Not really a very good idea. The present location means the library can be accessed during lunch breaks for people working in the main city centre. It will be much harder at the old post office & probably necessitate driving there. With current parking restrictions/extortionate fees this means the library will not be used as much – or is that the intention?

And it was a fabulous tour! What treasures are hidden within your walls.

My personal highlights, seeing Charles Dicken’s hand writing, and William Bligh’s, and of course AH Reed’s journal. The bibles were fantastic and the Books of Hours.

Anthony is a knowledgeable and entertaining host.

Thanks for the opportunity to see these treasures.
