Taking the Library into the Community

April 16, 2007 at 10:21 am | In Bookbus, Home Services, The Word |

Staff at Dunedin Public Libraries frequently take our services out
into the community to meet the needs of customers unable to visit
a library or a Bookbus, or to promote our services to people who
are keen to know what the library can offer them.

For people who are housebound we offer a home delivery service,
using a large team of volunteer couriers to deliver items especially
chosen to meet individual needs. Our Special Access team visits all
prospective customers to determine their likes and dislikes and to
learn a little of the person’s character which assists immensely when
selecting specifically for them. If you would like us to visit your club,
organisation or residential care facility please let us know. Often
people struggle to support the reading needs of their housebound
relatives and friends, unaware of the service that we can offer.

The rest of this editorial by Lyn Macleod, Head of Marketing and Administration Services, is available on the inside cover of the April Edition of the WORD.
